Lessons from Keturah on how to master your craft

Lessons from Keturah on how to master your craft

Did you know that Abraham married another woman after Sarah’s death? Well, according to Genesis 25, her name was Keturah and she went on to have 6 more children for him (aside from Ishmael and Isaac)!

Upon reflecting on both women, though, it seems to me that Abraham’s time with Sarah and Keturah are indicative of two completely different seasons in his life:

  • Keturah= Walking in (the manifestation of) God’s promise; abundance and overflow

  • Sarah= the process that it took to lay hold of that process- a process that involved challenges to faith, work and maturation.

And can I be really transparent with you, lovely? I very much felt like I was in the Sarah phase this week.

This is how I realised that not only are these 2 women symbolic of 2 different seasons in Abraham’s life, they are also symbolic of the path to purpose and what it ultimately takes to master your craft. I elaborated on this and more on my Facebook page this week via the (live) video below.

Lessons from Rebekah on How to not miss God's blessings (part 2)

Lessons from Rebekah on How to not miss God's blessings (part 2)

So last week, we began talking about 5 things that Sarah teaches us about how to ensure that we don’t miss God’s blessings. Remember that? If not, you can get all caught up here.

This week we will be talking about her daughter-in-law (Rebekah) and the 4 extra things that the events of her life can teach us on this topic, such as:

  1. Trusting God to prepare the way

  2. Being aware of the company that you keep

  3. Developing purposeful habits

  4. Saying “yes” to opportunities

All of which I shared on my Facebook page this week via the (live) video below.

So, one of my favourite contemporary gospel songs from back in the day is “Go Get It” by Mary Mary. Not only is it sure to get you dancing, the lyrics are sooo positive! The chorus alone, which encourages us to go for it and “go get [our] blessing,” is and always will be enough to hype me up when it comes to chasing my dreams!

If you’ve been wondering how exactly you can go about getting your blessings (goals and dreams) and making them a reality, then stay tuned! The events of Sarah life demonstrates the answer in these 5 simple steps:

  1. Decide God is faithful

  2. Know that His word will not return to Him void

  3. Mix God’s word with faith

  4. Know that you must do your part to attain the promise (God’s way!)

  5. Practice patience and consistency (until God brings it to pass)

All of which I shared on my Facebook page this week via the (live) video below.

Lessons from Sarah on how to manifest God's promises

Lessons from Sarah on how to manifest God's promises

If your upbringing was anything like mine, lovely, you probably grew up singing the old and well-known hymn “Standing on the Promises of God” (and still do!)

It’s a phrase that we hear a lot even outside of the song, right?

“I’m standing on God’s promises”

“Having done all to stand, continue to stand”

But how do we go from the standing (trusting and believing that it will come to pass) phase to the manifesting (living the dream) phase? In other words, how do we do like Sarah eventually did and give birth to our God-given promise(s)/vision?

Well, the answer lies in the following 3 words and phrases:

  1. Delay is not the same as denial (so you must know what to do during your waiting period)

  2. Your mistakes do not negate your promise

  3. Faith

all of which I shared on my Facebook page this week via the (live) video below.

Lessons from Sarah on how God reveals Himself to us

Lessons from Sarah on how God reveals Himself to us

Within Christian circles, we hear a lot about “letting God lead us,” “waiting for His direction” and “being led by the Holy Spirit” but, in the words of Brother Kanye-

“How, Sway?”

If you, like Kanye West, have ever wondered the same thing- as in:

  • How does God reveal Himself to us?

  • What should I be looking out for?

our girl (and spiritual mother), Sarah, has us covered once again- all of which I shared on my Facebook page this week via the (live) video below.

Lessons from 3 Biblical women on How to Abide in God

Lessons from 3 Biblical women on How to Abide in God

Last week, while talking about what The Woman with the Issue of Blood teaches us about how to live by faith, I mentioned that one of the things that she demonstrates about living a life of faith is that it requires steadfastness. I mean the fact that she waited 12 years to be healed and never gave up hope says it all, right?

Right!

I then went on to say that this whole concept of remaining steadfast reminded me of John 15:7, a scripture that I had literally been studying obsessively recently, which says:

"If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you"

But- because I had other points to get through- I couldn't break this scripture all the way down the way I wanted to; so I promised to do it later.

Well, lovely, this week I did!

And not only did I talk about 3 different strategies regarding how to abide in God, I also talked about not 1; not 2 but 3 different female Biblical examples of this. Namely:

  1. The Woman with the Issue of Blood

  2. Sarah

  3. Anna

All of which I shared on my Facebook page this week via the (live) video below.
