Lessons from Asenath on how to forgive yourself and move forward

Lessons from Asenath on how to forgive yourself and move forward

So we’ve been doing a lot of talking about Rachel and Leah in the last few weeks, haven’t we lovely? With a particular emphasis on what they teach us about how our pasts can negatively influence us with goal setting. For example, setting goals with the wrong intentions/why or making “God’s word of no effect” by holding on to “tradition”.

The past can also keep us in bondage if we refuse to forgive ourselves for past mistakes, failures or lifestyle choices so that we can become the women of God that He ordained us to be. But never fear, lovely! Asenath (Rachel’s daughter-in-law) has much to teach us about the 4 step process of forgiving ourselves and moving forward so that we can avoid all that jazz (and much more!)- all of which I shared on my Facebook page this week via the (live) video below.

Lessons from Sarah on how to manifest God's promises

Lessons from Sarah on how to manifest God's promises

If your upbringing was anything like mine, lovely, you probably grew up singing the old and well-known hymn “Standing on the Promises of God” (and still do!)

It’s a phrase that we hear a lot even outside of the song, right?

“I’m standing on God’s promises”

“Having done all to stand, continue to stand”

But how do we go from the standing (trusting and believing that it will come to pass) phase to the manifesting (living the dream) phase? In other words, how do we do like Sarah eventually did and give birth to our God-given promise(s)/vision?

Well, the answer lies in the following 3 words and phrases:

  1. Delay is not the same as denial (so you must know what to do during your waiting period)

  2. Your mistakes do not negate your promise

  3. Faith

all of which I shared on my Facebook page this week via the (live) video below.

Lessons from Eve on how to defy the curse & have a godly relationship

Lessons from Eve on how to defy the curse & have a godly relationship

So...if you've been rocking with me for a while then you will know that I have a real heart for women and all things female empowerment.

If you've been paying really close attention, you'll also know that a lot of the reason for this is because of things like:

  • Having a grandmother who was denied an education (whilst growing up in Nigeria) simply because she was female- restricting her options and quality of life

  • Witnessing multiple (other female) role models either forfeit their dreams, stay in abusive relationships or operate from a place of low self-worth

due to projected social norms, tradition and religion.

This is why I do what I do in terms of writing, mentoring, podcasting and speaking via the FarAboveRubiesCollection.com. (By changing the narrative for Christian women- one Bible story at a time- my mission is to help Christian women to know their worth, power and purpose so that they can speak up, step out and shine as women of God (rather than end up in the kinds of situations I grew up seeing)).

Well, recently I had the opportunity to take my message offline when I was invited to speak at the "Real Life" youth event at Edmonton Methodist Church, as shown via the video below.

Lessons from Naomi on How to Overcome Fear of Failure

Lessons from Naomi on How to Overcome Fear of Failure

Naomi, like Orpah, is first mentioned in the first chapter of the Book of Ruth. She was Orpah and Ruth's mother-in-law before her 2 sons (who were their husbands) died. What killed them was a famine that swept Moab and had also been responsible for Naomi's husband's death prior to this point.

The irony and saddest part about this situation is that Naomi and her husband had originally moved to Moab from Bethlehem years earlier to escape a famine that had swept that land. As such, by the time we meet her in Ruth 1, Naomi is grief-stricken and ready to return back to Bethlehem (especially because she had heard that the famine there was over).

Apart from being struck by the many lessons that can be gleaned from Orpah within this chapter about:

I also have new insights from Naomi about the fear of failure and how to overcome it.

Lessons from Esther on the Common Misconceptions about Purpose and How to Avoid Them

Lessons from Esther on the Common Misconceptions about Purpose and How to Avoid Them

The Book of Esther chronicles Esther’s ascension to the throne as well as the exploits that she achieved for her people as queen. If you’re familiar with this story, and you’re anything like me, then you strongly associate it with a particular line- which can be found at the tail end of Esther 4:14-

“Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

If you’re not, don’t worry! I will be jumping into the meat of her story shortly. But, for now, I just want to concentrate on that scripture…

I personally love it because it speaks of purpose in the following ways:
