Within my Facebook group, Women of Influence, we have weekly expert interviews

We also discuss all things netowrking and PR here.

One of my favourite ways to end the interviews is by asking guests who their favourite woman of the Bible is and why

And whilst I’ve had a variety of facinating answers and testimonies…

Esther, without a doubt, takes the crown for the one that gets named the most

The scripute that’s most synonymous with her? “Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

Found in Esther 4:14

A rallying cry that came from her uncle, Mordecai, to encourage Esther to use her power, privelage and position in service of her people

A word that not only confronted Esther with her significance and purpose but confronts us with our own because…

It also let’s us know that:

#1 God made us for a purpose

According to both Jeremiah 1:5 and Psalm 139:13-16, God fore-knew us before we existed in our mother’s wombs and also predestined us. By definition, this means that He has destined us for a particular purpose or fate. Esther 4:14 takes this a step further by letting us know that our time of birth; when and where we exist in the world is not an accident either because, like David, we are called to “serve [our] generation by the will of God” (Acts 13:36).

#2 We are called to solve problems

Serving our generation by the will of God often requires us to solve a problem; provide a service to others or solution of some sort. For example, Esther (a fore-shadow of Christ) acted as mediator between the King and her people, saving them from death. This is one of the fundamental principles of business- see a need; fill a need.

#3 The problems that you are called to solve will require using your gifts

Earlier I mentioned that Esther used her power (privelage and position) in service of her people. Power is defined as “the ability or capacity to do something or act in a particular way,” which is your gift(s) or super power.

#4 Maximum impact will require maximum visibility

Power is also defined as “the capacity or ability to direct or influence the behaviour of others or the course of events”. This is something that Esther did when she used the platform that her beauty, relationship and influence with the king gave her to save her people. It also lets us know that:

  • We, as modern women, will never be able to hit our goals without building know, like and trust with as many relevant people as possible- especially in business

  • Your success, especially financially, correlates with the amount of people that you serve by solving their problems

  • If you approach business with this heart, you shouldn’t feel bad about promoting yourself/your gifts and becoming more visible. Maximum impact will require maximum visibility

This why it’s important to build profitable relationships through networking and PR
