An Interview with Robin Revis Pyke on Martha

Today's interview comes from Robin Revis Pyke of Robinality.com, "an online community for sharing stories and experiences with like-minded women; a nurturing place to grow". Read as she shares her take on Martha (her favourite woman of the Bible), how she ties in to her testimony and what we, as modern women, can learn from Martha.

Who is your favourite woman of the Bible and why? What would you say that modern women can learn from her?

My favourite woman of the Bible, with whom I most identify, is Martha. To summarise her story- Martha and her sister, Mary, welcomed Jesus into their home. Mary was intent on listening to Jesus and taking in His words whereas Martha was busy and distracted; then complained because Mary was not helping her.

I tend to become a Martha when I should be a Mary. I am evolving (a work in progress) to learn to sit at the feet of my Saviour and be still. I am not there yet but I rest assured that I am not where I used to be!

As modern women, we must all learn to be still, know God and listen to His word. This is important for me as I create a platform for His word to witness to women. The use of the internet and social media is a blessing for sharing God’s word but I/we must be careful that it does not become a distraction!

Please finish the sentence: I am a Christian woman who is…

I am a Christian woman who is seeking God’s presence in all that I do.

Please finish the sentence: I am a Christian woman who is not…

I am a Christian woman who is not there yet!

Any final words of encouragement?

I am not perfect but I know that I was created in God's image. I seek His will and encouragement daily! My dream is to mentor and serve as shared in Titus 2. I am grateful for the support and encouragement that I received from women who believed in me. I wish to reciprocate by serving as a mentor to other women so that, they too, can be encouraged and supported.
