How to overcome perfectionism

One of the things that tend to hold us back a lot, especially when it comes to our visibility goals, is the fact that we’re afraid of not showing up perfectly

Whether that be making mistakes or falling short of the image that we see in our mind’s eye

The problem with perfectionism is the lie that it tells us, which is since we can’t be perfect, we either:

  • Shouldn't bother to try (i.e. “do it well or not at all”)

  • Should beat ourselves up for our efforts (by engaging in negative self-talk)

Here's my question to you though, sis: When you wake up in the morning and you look in the mirror

And your hair's dishevelled, you've still got dirt in your eye and your breath isn’t fresh

Do you go back to bed and say, "Woe is me. I'm not showing up how I should be," or do you fix what needs it?

For most of us, the answer is “we fix it,” right?

We take a brush, we take a comb, we do our hair, we brush our teeth. We use the mirror to get the dirt out of our eye, adjust and present ourselves to the world the way that we want to

That is the same thing we need to do when it comes to our goals and dreams of putting ourselves out there

Start at a certain level (your baseline) and, through experience, learn what you need to:

  • Tweak

  • Change

  • Do

to reach the mark that you see in your mind's eye
