An Interview with Trudi on the Need for Greater Representation of the Women of the Bible

Today's interview comes from another personal friend of mine: Trudi- a beautiful soul who literally makes me laugh until I cry. The other thing that I love about Trudi is her open-mindedness, empathy and compassion for other people, which you will definitely notice as you read her discussion of issues such as:

  • The need for a greater representation of the women of the Bible in the body of Christ
  • Women's strength and role in raising godly children
  • The fact that there is no partiality with God whether amongst His children or between the sexes
  • God's provision and ability to provide peace in any storm

Who is your favourite woman of the Bible and why? What would you say that modern women can learn from her?

I felt from an early age that women are not well represented in the Bible and maybe that is due to the Bible being translated by men. As such, I don’t have a favourite and don’t think I identify with any women in particular.

Please finish the sentence: I am a Christian woman who is...

I am a Christian woman who is blessed to be a woman. I perceive women as strong; independent people who are just as equal as men, and meant to be here to succeed like any other because God meant to make us.

I have a very close relationship with God and talk with Him daily. I am not perfect but God still has my back. I am the main person to bring my children into the faith of God and raising them as a believer in God is very much a part of my job in rearing children, and is as essential as making sure they are clothed and well fed.

As the main carer of my children, as a Christian woman, I have a very important role to play. Although I do not generally follow organised religion, I ensure my children are raised with one to create a sense of community. The fashion at the moment seems to be atheist and in this present day ensuring that my children are surrounded by positive role models (Christians) is paramount. I hope when their faith is secured that they too will develop their own personal relationship with God and won’t need to look to the church to find meaning.

Please finish the sentence: I am a Christian woman who is not...

I am a Christian woman who is not different to other women of different religions. God is God and I was placed in my family and chosen to follow the Christian path. I am not beneath men but I believe we play different roles, which are essentially equal. I am a Christian woman who is not ashamed to say God is the main man in my life and my partner knows that.

Any final words of encouragement?

God always provides. I have so much anxiety but I have realised no matter what, God always finds a solution for me. Although I do worry at times, simultaneously, I feel secure even when it looks like all is doomed. That’s because I know I have God. People are sometimes amazed when I make huge changes in my life and wonder why the fear does not put me off. But it’s because I know God has my back. He always has. I’m not afraid to jump into the unknown because I know God is there. How peaceful is my life when I know that I have such a powerful being holding me up and getting me through every dilemma? That is real peace and real security and something I feel sorry towards atheists for not being able to experience.
